Enriching and Empowering Children
Books for CAP/OC libraries
We are providing children’s books at two locations in which Community Action Partnership of Orange County provides services to low income families and individuals. This is an ongoing project in which we give children more than 200 books a month.
Books for AESD preschool children
In partnership with the Anaheim Elementary School District we are building home libraries for all preschool kids at five AESD pre-K classrooms. Each child will get over 40 new books during their two years in preschool. When they reach kindergarten, we will evaluate the school performance of the Bookworm kids.
Books for MOMS Orange County babies
We give new children’s books to all new mothers at MOMS Orange County to build home libraries for their infants. MOMS Orange County is the region’s largest nonprofit dedicated solely to newborn and pregnancy health. MOMS Orange County helps new mothers have a healthy pregnancy, encourage their baby’s development, and be confident as a parent.
Books for Lending Libraries in 18 preschool classrooms
We partner with the Anaheim and Santa Ana School Districts to provide Lending Libraries in pre-K classrooms. Each week the preschoolers take home a bag of four books for parents to read to them. This program will improve the school readiness of their preschool children and improve their academic performance.
Books for kids in transitional living facilities
Casa Teresa provides a loving home and supportive services for pregnant women in crisis. We provide women at Casa Teresa books for their newborns. Thomas House Family Shelter located in the city of Garden Grove supports homeless families with children by providing rent-free, transitional shelter. We furnish books for home libraries of all their families.
